Career advice and job application checks
Career and job search advice and appointments
If you are a Victoria University of Wellington student or recent graduate, you can book a 30-minute appointment with one of our career consultants to help you with career planning, decision-making and job applications, from the general exploration of career ideas to targeted careers and job information.
Log in to CareerHub for available face-to-face and Zoom appointments. If you’d prefer a phone appointment, please contact careers-service@vuw.ac.nz.
For future students, you can be referred for an appointment once you’ve met with the Future Students team.
Job application checks
If you are a Te Herenga Waka student or recent graduate, we’re available to review and offer feedback on your draft copies of CVs, cover letters, job application forms and scholarship applications.
Before we review your job applications
Before submitting your documents (such as draft CV and cover letter) for review, we recommend that you complete at least one of the following:
- attend a CV and/or Cover Letter workshop
- work your way through the CVs and Cover Letter Module and/or used CV360
- discuss your document(s) in a face to face or Zoom appointment.
How to submit your CV for us to review
To receive feedback by a career consultant, submit your CV (and any other application documents in MS Word format) on the Job application review form on CareerHub (you will need to be logged in to submit your documents).
Please allow us two business days to reply. During February to April this will take three business days.
Tell us about:
- your degree, majors and stage of study e.g. final year
- your target career area OR the job advert and job description or a weblink to it
- the application closing date (if applicable)
If you would prefer to have support with developing your CV in person, you can book into a CV or Cover Letter Basics workshop or appointment.
