- Evacuate the building using the nearest fire exit.
- Call 111 and ask for the Fire Service.
- Call Campus Security, 0800 842 8888.
Evacuation
Follow these steps if you hear an alarm that sounds continuously or are told to evacuate.
- Leave immediately through any emergency exit that offers a safe route outside. Look for the green and white exit signage.
- Keep calm and don't run.
- Don't use lifts and keep left on stairs.
- Follow all instructions from wardens, Campus Security or University staff.
Also during an evacuation...
- Do not attempt to return to your room.
- Do not force smoke and fire doors to stay open, as these are designed to contain smoke and fire.
- Students in halls should listen to wardens, stay on site, and wait for further instructions.
- Check the University Facebook page for updates once you are safely at your assembly point.
- You may receive updates via text or email.
