Graduate Certificate in Designed Environments–GCertDE 60 points Qualification regulations

1. (a) Before enrolment, a candidate for the GCertDE shall have:

(i) completed a BAS, BBSc, BConst or BDI degree or an equivalent qualification; and

(ii) been accepted by the head of school as capable of proceeding with the proposed course of study.

(b) Requirement (a)(i) may be waived by the head of school for a candidate who has practical, professional, or scholarly experience that provides equivalent preparation.

2. (a) The personal course of study for the GCertDE shall consist of a coherent programme of study approved by the Associate Dean (Students) of the Faculty of Architecture and Design Innovation on the recommendation of the head of school. Except as provided in (b), it shall include at least 60 points from courses listed on the BAS, BBSc, BConst, MArch(Prof), MArchSc, MConsLaw, MConst, MIA, MLA, or MURPlan schedules, of which at least 45 points shall be in courses numbered 300 or above.

(b) At the discretion of the associate dean, up to 15 points in the GCertDE may be replaced with approved courses from other programmes offered at this university.

3. (a) A candidate for the GCertDE shall be enrolled for at least one trimester and shall complete the requirements of the certificate within two years of first enrolling in it.

(b) The associate dean may extend the maximum period in (a) in special cases.

4. The GCertDE shall be endorsed with, at most, one subject if the candidate’s personal course of study includes courses as listed below.

Architecture (ARCH): 30 points from ARCI 311, ARCI 312, SARC 313, SARC 321, SARC 351

Architecture History and Theory (AHTY): 30 points from SARC 351, SARC 352, SARC 353, SARC 354

Interior Architecture (INTA): 30 points from INTA 311, INTA 312, INTA 321, SARC 313, SARC 323

Landscape Architecture (LAND): 30 points from LAND 311, LAND 312, LAND 321, SARC 313
