Discover music’s cultural roots

Explore how people make and think about music in Aotearoa New Zealand, and in cultures across the globe.

Develop critical frameworks for examining music culturally and socially, and in research methods of ethnography, including interviews, recordings, and performance.

We focus on the Asia-Pacific region in particular, in traditional and popular repertoires, and in contemporary events and media.
