Become a marketing expert

Build a marketing career or advance in your current role with postgraduate study. Our flexible globally recognised qualifications set you up for roles in marketing, advertising, and communications anywhere in the world.

Our qualifications cover essential areas like consumer behaviour, sustainable marketing, technology, branding, and market research and strategy. You'll gain practical skills, a strong understanding of global marketing trends, and the ability to make smart, data-informed decisions.

You'll learn from leading academics and professionals, and benefit from our strong industry and government connections.

Choose your study path

The Wellington School of Business and Government has Marketing study options at graduate and postgraduate levels to suit your circumstances and goals. They suit you if you’re:

  • a recent graduate and want to deepen your knowledge and enter the workforce with a stronger, more internationally focused business degree
  • already working and want to shift or advance your career.

Change focus by studying Marketing at graduate level

Specialise in Marketing theory and practice with graduate-level study. Our graduate certificate and diploma qualifications help you change careers or upgrade your skills.

You’ll learn about consumer behaviour, marketing strategy, data-driven marketing decision making, strategic brand management, sustainable consumption and marketing practices, and the nexus of marketing and technology.

Graduate Certificate in Commerce

This 60-point, one-trimester graduate certificate introduces you to foundational Marketing concepts so you can upskill without committing to a longer qualification. It’s also a pathway to more advanced postgraduate study.

Graduate Diploma in Commerce

The 120-point graduate diploma gives you a broader and more in-depth grounding than the graduate certificate. It’s a good way to prepare for postgraduate Marketing study or if you want to work in marketing management or research.

Study Marketing at advanced postgraduate level

Bachelor of Commerce with Honours

A one-year, full-time degree that builds on your undergraduate Marketing BCom. It deepens your understanding of Marketing strategy and management, and is an excellent step if you seek a career in academia, policy, or research-intensive roles.

Postgraduate Certificate in Commerce

A short, focused qualification that adds depth to your Marketing knowledge without committing to a full year of study. It gives you flexibility and a pathway into the postgraduate diploma or Master’s qualifications.

Postgraduate Diploma in Commerce

A flexible, 120-point qualification you can take full time or part time. It’s a good option if you want an advanced, career-focused Marketing qualification without a research component. It’s also good if you plan to take a Master of Commerce in future—your PGDipCom courses can count towards it.

Carry out postgraduate research

Master of Commerce

Develop your understanding of contemporary marketing issues with a Master of Commerce majoring in Marketing. A 180-point, full- or part-time degree with both coursework and research components. You can staircase this degree with a BCom(Hons).

Master of Global Business

This 180-point coursework-based Master’s degree gives you a global perspective on modern marketing theory, practice, and strategy. It’s a good choice if you want to launch a career in global business marketing and strategy and learn skills you can apply directly in the workplace.

Doctor of Philosophy

Carry out advanced research in Marketing and make an original contribution to the field with a PhD.
