Deepen your understanding of music
Build a deeper understanding of music with postgraduate study through a programme that applies critical analytical perspectives to the history, performance, and composition of music. You’ll look at music from different perspectives and learn how musical ideas connect across styles, cultures, and contexts.
If you’re a performer, Music Studies helps you develop a deeper understanding of the music you play. If you’re a composer, it helps you place your work in context, discover new influences, and strengthen your skills.
You’ll engage in deeper discussions with your peers and lecturers. Graduate with strong skills in critical thinking, listening, research, analysis, writing, and communication—useful for careers in music, in fields like education and the arts, and the public sector.
Choose your study path
You can take Postgraduate Music Studies in a Bachelor of Music with Honours or a Master of Arts by coursework. You could also go on to PhD study.
