Find better outcomes for society

If you want to get the skills to make a difference, study postgraduate Social Policy.

You’ll analyse how people, governments, non-governmental organisations, and iwi try to answer the big questions facing society. Look closely at the concept of social wellbeing and who’s responsible for improving it. Examine issues like poverty, social exclusion, and changing populations.

Through your study you’ll develop the confidence and analytical skills to investigate and communicate about policy. Learn how to ask the right questions, challenge assumptions, and frame issues in ways that can lead to change.

Choose your study path

Currently, you can only study postgraduate Social Policy through our research degrees—the Master of Arts (by thesis) or the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

For advice on other study options, talk to one of our future student advisers.

Qualification support and advice

We can help you match your interests and career goals with the right course of study.

If you’re a new student, talk to a Future Student Adviser through our enquiry form.

If you’re already studying with us, talk to Tītoko—Student Success.

For the research portion of your study, you’ll need a supervisor to help guide your research. Your programme coordinator will work with you to find the right person.
