Create outdoor design solutions
Landscape Architecture explores design solutions for outdoor spaces. It merges design and art, history and culture, and ecology and science to create engaging and functional spaces.
Aotearoa New Zealand offers us a range of environments to design for—rural, suburban, urban, and natural.
Choose Landscape Architecture to design spaces that bring people and the environment together.
What is Landscape Architecture?
Choose your study path
You can do Landscape Architecture as your major subject in a three-year Bachelor of Architectural Studies (BAS).
If you’re studying for a double degree or conjoint degree, Architectural Studies goes well with Arts, Commerce, or Law. The BAS is highly structured, so you will have to do some careful planning to do a conjoint or double degree.
Pathway to becoming a landscape architect
The Bachelor of Architectural Studies (BAS) is the first step towards becoming a professional, registered landscape architect.
After your Bachelor’s, you can continue on to our Master in Landscape Architecture, accredited by the New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects (NZILA). It’s the only accredited programme offered in Wellington, and one of only three in the country.
After you complete your Master’s and spend three years working as a landscape architect, you can become registered with the NZILA. Your qualification and registration will be recognised throughout Aotearoa New Zealand.
