Scheduling and combinational optimisation
We have been carrying out research in the following areas:
- job-shop scheduling
- vehicle and arc routing
- web service composition
- resource allocation
- timetabling.
Solving dynamic problems in uncertain environments
This group is particularly interested in hyper-heuristic approaches and solving dynamic problems under uncertain environments. Our work looks at solving problems in:
- waste collection
- mobile manufacturing
- transportation
- hospital timetabling
- resource allocation and scheduling for cloud computing
- logistic and supply chain scheduling.
Application themes
-
Evolutionary computation and machine learning
We focus on topics such as genetic programming, learning classifier systems, particle swarm optimisation, evolutionary computer vision, and image analysis.
-
Artificial intelligence—service and cloud computing
The AI-SCC group conduct research in the areas related to service and cloud computing, and develop artificially intelligent methods to solve problems.
