Use technology and data to improve healthcare

Global healthcare is limited by workforce shortages and funding gaps. But healthcare technologies and opportunities are expanding globally and can address these gaps. Digital solutions are improving health, reaching more people, personalising healthcare, and helping people live longer.

For example, millions of people download health and wellbeing apps every year. Data analytics are revolutionising how we understand and treat disease. And information systems are increasing the safety and efficiency of healthcare delivery.

You'll study a combination of technology and information systems, and explore how data can inform and improve decisions about healthcare and services. If you’re interested in technology and want to improve healthcare, digital health could be the perfect fit for you. Your future work could contribute to a more affordable, flexible health system and better health outcomes for people.

Choose your study path

You can study Digital Health as a major or minor in the Bachelor of Health.

You’ll study core courses that introduce you to key concepts of:

  • health and wellbeing
  • health informatics
  • health policy and services
  • data and statistics
  • social and cultural context of health.

In your final year, you’ll complete a research project or an internship. The internship is a limited entry course.

The Bachelor of Health gives you flexibility to structure courses around your interests. You could add a major or minor to your study, or complete a conjoint degree.

What you’ll learn

Study Digital Health and apply information technology to bring better healthcare to more people in more places.

You’ll consider:

  • how to improve healthcare through effective management and use of health information, data, and systems
  • data security and ownership
  • how to use data to improve how we understand, predict, and treat disease.

You’ll graduate understanding equity, health needs, and policy issues. You’ll also be able to do some coding and analysis.
