Confirm your enrolment
Before the start of your first trimester, make sure that you've completed the enrolment process by accepting your Enrolment Agreement.
You’ll need to make sure that you don’t have any outstanding conditions for your admission or enrolment in order to become fully enrolled.
Logging in to Pūaha as a student
To access services and tools for enrolled students, you need to use the ‘My University student account’ option to log in to Pūaha with your student ('my vuw') email address. Don’t use the personal email address that you used when you were applying to study.
Getting your username
Within 24 hours of becoming fully enrolled, we’ll send you an email with your student username and email address. Once you receive that email, follow our step-by-step instructions to set your password.
You’ll use your student username or student email address to access student IT services, including:
- Pūaha, our portal for student admin
- Nuku, the online learning environment for all your courses
- computers and printers on campus.
Setting up Multi-Factor Authentication
If you're a new student and have successfully logged in to Pūaha, set up MFA to add more security to your university account.
Use our handy MFA 101 guide to help you get set up.

Using your student email
You’ll use the Outlook app to read emails that have been sent to your student ('my vuw') address. Outlook is one of Microsoft's Office 365 apps, for which you now have a student account.
Some of the University's systems are set up to send messages to your student email address—so it’s important to check your account regularly. Alternatively, you can set up your student email account to forward messages to your personal email address.

Updating your contact information
You can see the contact information that the University has for you in the 'My profile' section of Pūaha. It’s a good idea to keep all your contact information (physical address, phone number, and personal email address) up to date so you don't miss out on important information.
